About Popcon²
Popcon² is a website for viewing and analyzing Ubuntu's user-submitted package statistics.
Statistics in Ubuntu are disabled by default, and are opt-in only. Once enabled, data about the packages installed and used is anonymized and uploaded to the main popcon website. More information about popcon can be found in the popcon README and FAQ.
Enabling statistics
To enable the statistics reporting on your Ubuntu installation, follow these instructions.
How does it work
Popcon² updates it's package information from the main popcon at popcon.ubuntu.com daily. It then presents the data to you in an easier to understand format, adds time progression graphs, and allows you to see how your app is rising (or dropping!) in usage on Ubuntu machines.
Who made this?
The team behind Popcon² Developers made this. Feel free to get in touch with us!
Who else makes this possible?
Many people have helped us to make this. Principally, we would like to thank Jeff from ecchi.ca for supporting Popcon² actively and hosting us from January to September 2010, and Magical Tux for being our current hoster.
Which software do you use?
Popcon² uses Lighttpd as its webserver, PostgreSQL as its database system, PHP as the scripting language that powers the tubes site, and CodeIgniter as the PHP framework, which allows faster development.
